Who we serve.

Family & Children’s Service has provided leadership in Niagara County in the area of child abuse and neglect since 1977.  Child abuse prevention involves teaching parents positive ways to discipline children and to problem-solve.  Under contract with the Niagara County Department of Social Services (DSS), Family & Children’s delivers services designed to provide permanency to children, to help the family unit remain intact and to reunite the family when a child/children have been placed outside of the home or to free a child for adoption.

The PASSAGE for Parents Program provides a coordinated approach of supervised visitation, In-Home individualized parenting instruction and family case management, as well as parenting workshops and community presentations.

(See Parenting Education Groups.)  The hands-on In-Home parenting training is offered for those who can best learn through role modeling and concrete examples of problem solving.

Families must be referred to the program from Niagara County DSS.  A wide range of supportive and intervention services are provided to help families remain intact.
